Derek McCallister, aka Livewire D Xprt
Born May 31, 1974, in New London, CT, and raised in Kellumtown, NC — a tight-knit community that taught him the values of hard work, family, and unity. Growing up in the ’80s, he fell in love with hip hop from breakdancing to rapping, inspired by his first cassette tape, The Fat Boys Are Back. He and his cousin Moo spent countless hours on the porch beatboxing and freestyling before they even knew what freestyling was.

Today, Livewire D Xprt is more than an artist — he’s a father, grandfather, coach, and community leader. His music delivers hope, motivation, and real-life stories, standing apart in a world where sex, money, and drugs dominate the mainstream. He believes artists have a responsibility to inspire the next generation and uses hip hop as a tool to uplift, educate, and unite.
