Derek McCallister aka Livewire D Xprt Born May 31, 1974 in New London Connecticut moved to North Carolina at the age of 3. Growing up in a small community everyone treated you like family related or not. Kellumtown Rd , K-Town or Chocolate city what ever you want to call it is the village that taught me the value of hard-work and family.
Being Raised in the 80's I fell in love with Hip Hop at early age from break dancing to rapping . Back then rap was just crossing over into the mainstream audience and you had to stay up late on Friday nights just to listen to rap music on the radio. Way before We have came a long way since then, maybe a little to far if you ask me with the state of hip hop right now. I still remember the first cassette tape my father ever bought me for Christmas was the Fat Boys Are Back. From then it was on me and my cousin moo sitting on the front porch beat boxing and creating songs off the top of our head. we was free free-styling before we even knew what free-styling was. Thats when music made u feel good about yourself and life it motivated you to want to be better .
Now we living in a n world where sex money and drugs has taken over the music and T.V screen. its rare that you find.
A beacon of positivity, a lyrical mc whose verses resonate with hope and motivation. A testament to the power of positivity in hip-hop. Drawing from life experiences and the struggles of those around him, he creates verses that offer a fresh perspective on the world. He is not just another local rapper. He is a father, He is a grandfather He is a coach, he is a family man who strives daily to give back to his community. His music inspires and motivate those who listen to his lyrics. In a world where sex money and drugs has taken over music it's hard to find artist who still keeps it real talking about life and the struggles that come with it. As an artist, I understand the responsibilities we hold as role models to the next generation. We all play a part in today’s society and whether we like it or not it’. I’m a firm believer, that the best way to get our message across to the youth is through our music.
